CACAGNY Says NO to Prop One on the ballot this November!

The Chinese American community is speaking out against Prop 1, as expressed in their statement below.

CACAGNY Says NO to Prop One on the ballot this November!

July 29, 2024

This November, the election ballot will contain a Proposal to amend the New York State Constitution. The amendment is known as the “Equal Protection Amendment” or the “Equal Rights Amendment,” though politicians and the press may also call it the “abortion amendment.” The Proposal appears as Proposition One on the ballot.

Please vote NO on ballot Proposition One and spread the word to your friends to do the same.

This article explains in detail why Prop One is a very, very bad thing. In short, Prop One can be used to invalidate the Hecht-Calandra law that protects the Specialized High Schools.

There is a lot of deception going on. Politicians and their allies in the press want voters to think that Prop One is just about protecting abortion. But abortion is not under even the most remote threat in New York. Abortion is supported by the vast majority of New Yorkers and has been protected by New York State law for decades, even before Roe v. Wade.

Some voters know that Prop One is also about protecting transgender rights. And many New Yorkers are OK with that too.

Some have figured out that Prop One is also about protecting transgender minors’ rights. That’s very different. That means that without having to pass a specific contentious lawsex-change providers now enjoy Constitutional protection to operate on children without parents’ knowledgeAnd parents who complain may go to jail. A lot of parents would be alarmed by that– if they only knew.

But Prop One is even bigger than that. With Prop One, the SHSAT can be gone in a second, and it wouldn’t even need legislative action in Albany to do that: yes, Banks — or a future Carranza — can do that all by himself! All kinds of bad changes, by any administrator, get Constitutional protection under Prop One. Most voters have no idea. It’s all carefully buried in the complex and sweeping language of the Amendment, as explained in the article linked above.

So, say NO to Prop One and spread the word to all your friends! And please, publish op-eds or letters to editors! Voters need to learn about the true agenda behind Prop One between now and November. This is serious.
