Albany Is Rewriting NY’s Energy Future — Speak Up NOW!

New York’s Draft State Energy Plan will shape how energy is produced, delivered, and used across the state, and it will affect every single New Yorker.  If we stay silent, we risk:

      •  Losing natural gas, our most reliable, life-saving heat source during winter storms and power outages. During the Buffalo Blizzard of 2022, 11 people died after power failures left their homes without heat.
      •  Skyrocketing energy bills as expensive mandates kick in. Assemblyman Sempolinski had this to say on increased energy costs.
      •  Hazardous battery energy storage stations (BESS) being sited in neighborhoods, posing toxic fire risks in neighborhoods. Ironically, NYSERDA President Doreen Harris promotes BESS statewide, while her own town, Duanesburg, bans them for safety reasons.
      •  Job Losses as higher energy costs and mandates force manufacturers and others to leave New York. Hear Assemblyman Bologna’s testimony at the Buffalo hearing.

This is more than an energy debate — it’s about reliability, safety, and affordability for every household.

Take Action — Here’s How:

      • Attend an In-Person Hearing:  Let NYSERDA hear from real New Yorkers, not just activists. Find a hearing near you.
      • Submit Written Comments: It takes just a few minutes to speak up online. Submit your Comment Here
      • Spread the Word: Share this with friends, neighbors, and community groups. The more voices, the harder Albany will find it to ignore us.
